Any material which is in the size range of 1 to 100 nanometre is called a nano-sized material.

1 nanometer would be 1 millionth of a millimeter. So you can imagine how small the materials are. It is this small size that makes them special. They exhibit outstanding properties at these small sizes, which can be used to make better performing system, devices etc.

For example, Quantum dots (they are particles of 1-5 nm size) have been used to make better TV screen displays.
