Favourite thing to do in my job: Field Survey of interesting sites
I live in Cirencester with my partner and two kids at primary school.
Being my own boss lets me manage my time the way I want and spend more time with the kids.
My main hobbies of travel and cinema went out the window with parenthood.
My Work: I provide soil science advice, with most of my customers being developers and large infrastructure projects.
The best and most versatile agricultural land is protected in our planning system. I provide advise on the quality of agricultural land so that the best land can be conserved. As well as agricultural land I also advise on the conservation and beneficial reuse of soil resources, and the control of diffuse pollution from land to water.
About one day a week on field survey work, with the rest of my time half days writing reports and administration.
